Canyon Overlook

Canyon Overlook - Zion National Park

This overlook can be reached via a short trail, which begins just east of the tunnel. From its viewpoint you can see Bridge Mountain, the Towers of the Virgin, and the Streaked Wall. The overlook also offers an up close view of The East Temple. This is a great early morning hike.

Checkerboard Mesa

Checkerboard Mesa - Zion National Park

Checkerboard Mesa is one of the most prominent formations in Zion. It's located on the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway, just a short distance from the east entrance of the park. The interesting patterns on the face of the mesa have been formed by wind, water, and ice.

Clear Creek

Clear Creek - Zion National Park

This wash runs roughly parallel to the road, all the way from the eastern entrance of the park to the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel. Clear Creek is usually dry, but it's completely capable of springing back to life when the weather permits.

The East Temple

The East Temple - Zion National Park

The East Temple sits high above the Canyon Overlook Trail. If you want to get a closer look than this, you're going to have to scramble up a thousand feet of slickrock to get it. An unofficial trail leads to a saddle near its south east corner, exiting afterwards into Pine Creek. From the top there are expansive views of Bridge Mountain, the Towers of the Virgin, The East Temple, and Deertrap Mountain.
